Evaluation of J.A.R Sky high

In our production we aimed to make a melo hip-hop music track and video and to make it a stereotypical hip-hop video, by thinking about the location, what we wear and the way we act in it. When we finished making the track and synced our words to it. feedback was'nt so good as singing was out of tune and the verses were just missing the beat so sounded quite bad. we took in the feedback from class mates and from friends and decided to go back to the music studio and record parts of the track again. we then showed our class again and got more positive feedback than before
was told that "it was very catchy" and it had "a very good beat". Once we had finalised the track we got stright on to the planning of the video which didnt take long, as we all had our own visions and we new the code and convetions of a hip- hop video. We all put all our four ideas together and came up with a classic stereotypical hip-hop image and put our own unique twist to our own verse. Alex has an intrest in basketball,so we pictured his verse on a basketball court and rapping having a laugh we stumbled across an Nkie advert called "hyperizer" which gave us a baseline of what we could do. Josh was going to have a BMX but was'nt practical for shooting so had him running instead. And i had my car which made each verse unique and we incorporated that with the lyrics. It took us 2 days to film our video and 2 days to basic edit which was our video without effect. We already had good ideas where our locations would be as when we did the one day lip sync project we came across some good places which we worked our song around the location. Our location were Bawdsey for Alex basketball scene, The Docks in town for Josh, and a construction site for mine and College music studio. Our transport getting to and from these loctions was me driving. On the day of filming it went really smooth as we had planned it all and new exactley what shot we wanted. when we were filming we looked back over what we had done and with out noticing we messsed up the time codes which we regret doing later. overall we decided to keep it simple and went with simple shots but using depth and colour in the shots. in the music studio we used a red head light for effect and it works really well giving the whole scene in the booth a real atmosphere. When we edited we found out that we had left gaps in filing which runined our time codes which means we had to upload our footage manually. after the trouble with time codes editing was really simple as we kept to just simple cuts and just let it flow. We did finish editing a while before the deadline so we played around with effects and added them in to test responces were mixed.

The audience responce was really good as the said it was funny, clever and we looked the part. Peaple have really enjoyed watching our video said the song is very catchy.

My overall feelings of the video is that it was really good as it keeps you entertained as its eyecatching. Its very cheesey but we pulled it off as it adds comedy also the song becomes very catchy. This project has pulled the three if us together as we worked together as a team took on each other advise and made the best video we could with £0 budget. if i was to do this again i would try a different genre and maybe try a harder concept for a video.
